Privacy & limits

If you contact crisis lines or emergency services, they may ask for your name, location, or phone number so they can send help and keep you safe. They may share information with local services when there is a serious and immediate risk.

In my counselling practice, sessions are private and follow B.C. RSW standards, but confidentiality has legal limits in emergencies or when safety is at risk (for example, risk of serious harm, child abuse or neglect, or a court order).
